Carter's 2 weeks and Grant's 3!!!

Life has been crazy lately-who would have thought! Carter is 2 weeks now and really chunking up! When he was just 3 days old he had already gained weight and was up to 5 lbs-huge I know! He eats like a horse and sleeps wonderfully; he's the complete opposite of Grant!

Grant also just turned 3! My baby is getting so big. He calls Carter his "brother/sister" and is warming up to him more and more everyday! The first day at thed hospital Grant wanted nothing to do with his new brother! The nurse came in to pick the baby up and Grant ran and opened the door for her shouting "bye baby"! Then he slammed the door and exclaimed "baby's gone!"nIt was actually quite funny! Nathan got to come home for an entire week! It was so much fun and Grant could not get enough of his daddy! We miss him sooooo much! We are going to miss him even more soon because, lucky us, Nathan gets to serve his second deployment and will head to Afghanistan in July. I try not to think about it because I get so depressed, but the Lord has a plan and I just have to have faith everything will be okay!

Grant got a bloody nose and he needed a "bandah" on top of it! He's obsessed with band-aids, doctors, and "stetascopes" lately!

Carter may have gotten a hint of the Puert Rican gene in him! He seems kind olivey to me! I can't believe how much he looks like Grant. They are like twins. Carter even has a clogged tear duct like Grant did!

Carter Douglas

I am so happy to finally have Carter here. He is just the tiniest most amazing little guy! I can't believe how much I love him. My labor was crazy too! I went into the doctor's on Monday and I was only measuring 34.5 weeks and I was 37 weeks so he decided to do a sonogram to see what was going on. He did the ultrasound and we found that Carter was breech and in a really funky position. The doctor talked to me about some of my options and we decided on doing an external cephalic version the next day.
I went into the hospital and got an epidural and everything before they performed the procedure. The procedure itself went great but right after was AWFUL! Carter's heartrate dropped to around 65-70 and my shot up. My blood pressure dropped and they had to give me some meds and put me on oxygen. Finally, after about 5 minutes Carter's heart beat came back to normal and everything was okay. The doc said 2 more minutes and we would have had to do an emergency c-section.
They sent me home because I was still only dilated to a 2. The next day was just like any other day. My mom was up here to help with Grant from the version. I was SOOOO sore from it too. I can't even believe how bad my stomach hurt afterwards. Wednesday, we went shopping and just hung around. I went and worked out at the rec center and came home. At about 8:30 I started having some small noticable contractions so we started timing them. Then events just happened one after another. I lost my mucus plug (I know, too much info). My contractions started gettting bad and then at 12:30 my water broke. We jumped in the car, dropped Grant off, and drove to the hospital. By the time I got there I was in some serious pain. My muscles were still so sore from the version and the contractions were getting worse. I was like one of those crazy women on t.v. I seriously was screaming because I thought my insides were ripping open. Even the nurses were really worried because the pain was so incredible. My contractions with Grant were nothing like this.
Anyway, the anesthesiologist got there about an hour later and I was at a 7. Then, at around 5 I really started feeling some pressure. I called the nurses in and they told me not to push because the doc was on his way. The doctor got there at about 5:30 and I pushed 3 times; it was less than 5 miutes and my little munchkin popped out! A whopping 4 lbs 14 oz. They think that he just stopped growing in there and needed to come out! He is perfectly healthy though and we are home now!
I still can't get over how different this delivery was because with Grant I pushed for TWO hours! Anyway, that's the story. Kind of long!
Here are some pictures of the little man.
He's not way too much bigger than a box of macaroni!

Grant was NOT okay having a little brother the very first day. He was pretty mad at me too but he is warming up more and more everyday!

Nathan was in Louisiana and just could not make it. We were sooooo sad, but he will be home Sunday and make up for the lost time!

THIS WILL BE MY LAST POST BEFORE I GO PRIVATE SO IF YOU HAVEN'T LEFT YOUR E-MAIL, DO IT NOW! THANKS!
